Privacy & Data
VocalFlow’s stance: your data belongs to you.
Key points:
- Recordings and transcripts stay on your Mac, in a local SQLite database in your user library. No cloud sync of recordings or history.
- The server does not keep your transcript texts. Audio is streamed for transcription and results are returned to you; transcripts are not stored server-side.
- Usage statistics are computed entirely locally — daily voice minutes and text output never leave your Mac.
- Context collection follows hard rules that no setting can override: secure input and private browsing windows are always skipped, and screenshots happen only at the instant you press the hotkey — never in the background.
- The one deliberate exception: your personal dictionary can be manually synced to the server (so you can recover it on a new Mac). Nothing is uploaded unless you press the sync button.
- Local storage is under your control: Settings shows a storage breakdown and lets you clear audio or purge by age, with confirmation.
