Voice Memo

Voice Memo is VocalFlow’s home for long-form thoughts: a memo is a block-editor document where audio blocks and text blocks interleave, and recording happens right inside the editor.

Key points:

  • One-hotkey capture: press ⌘⇧M anywhere to open the window, create a new memo, and start recording immediately. Reopen any old memo later to keep appending.
  • While recording you see a live scrolling preview; if the service is unreachable, it degrades gracefully to audio-only recording.
  • When you stop, the whole segment goes through server-side file transcription for an authoritative transcript. Transcribing/failed states are visible, failures can be retried, and interrupted uploads resume automatically after an app restart.
  • Between audio blocks you can insert and edit text blocks — turn a raw brain-dump into a structured note in place.
  • Each audio block replays its original recording individually.
  • Export the whole memo as Markdown to Obsidian, Drafts, Apple Notes, or the clipboard.
